Twenty-six percent of SamTrans riders are under 18. Clearly, young people have discovered that SamTrans is the safe, convenient, affordable, “green” way to get around. And now that summer is nearly over, SamTrans is ready to take students back to school.

SamTrans serves 26 elementary schools, 20 middle schools, 20 high schools and six colleges throughout San Mateo County.

The SamTrans Youth Pass (available to youth age 17 years old and younger) is only $29 each month. The Youth Pass is good for unlimited travel on any Local or Express route at any time. SamTrans offers an even more discounted monthly Youth Pass for students who qualify for the free or reduced-cost lunch program. These additionally discounted passes are only available through participating schools.

For periodic bus riders, SamTrans Youth Tokens provide up to a 20 percent discount over cash fares on local routes.
